About Foothill CS

We are the Foothill High School Science Club -- a group of students interested in learning more about CS while fostering a creative and inclusive environment. Throughout the school year, we'll be participating and hosting our own hackathons, competing in tournaments such as the Congressional App Challenge and USACO, and volunteering to disseminate software-related knowledge. Our only requirement is an interest in CS and being a current Foothill High School student. We're always looking for new members, so if you are interested, click here to join!

Hackathons.

We plan on attending and hosting a number of hackathons throughout the year.

FalconHacks

Foothill CS is the proud host of FalconHacks, an annual hackathon that will be tentatively hosted in late November. With dozens of high-schoolers attending across the Bay, FalconHacks is a stellar way to introduce budding coders to the world of hackathons. Geared towards beginners and veteran programmers alike, FalconHacks is inclusive for anyone who is willing to code and make the next big thing. With free attendance and acess to a plethora of resources and connections, FalconHacks is the premier hackathon for Bay Area high schoolers.

Hackathon Teams

Foothill CS plans on operating a number of student-led teams to compete at hackathons. Our Hackathon Teams bring together like-minded individuals who are passionate about coding, problem-solving, and creating impactful solutions. Led by student leaders who have a wealth of experience in hackathons, our teams are the perfect platform for you to enhance your skills, forge lasting connections, and challenge yourself in a fast-paced, competitive environment.

Competitions.

Foothill CS intends to compete and distribute resources to help members compete in USACO, Codeforces, the Congressional App Challenge, and more.

USACO

Foothill CS, in partnership with the USACO.guide, intends to hold workshops and distribute resources for our members. Our comprehensive workshops, led by experienced mentors, are tailored to guide you through the intricacies of the USACO curriculum. Whether you're a beginner aiming to build a strong foundation or an advanced coder seeking to fine-tune your strategies, our workshops cater to all levels. Whether you're preparing for the Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum, our resources and community can help at every step of the way. We also offer FREE usaco.guide video classes -- reach out to us for details!

Congressional App Challenge

Similar to our hackathon teams, we are going to be competing in the Congressional App Challenge for the 23-24 school year. We hope to bring together like-minded individuals who are passionate about coding, problem-solving, and creating impactful solutions to represent our club at the CAC. If you would be interested in participating or have any questions, please do reach out to us at https://bit.ly/3DLx73W. More information about the CAC is available at this website.

Workshops.

Every meeting, Foothill CS intends to host a workshop or keynote to help our members understand and develop using various technologies.

Weekly Workshops

Rather than hosting basic, rudimentary lessons on the fundamentals of programming languages, Foothill CS plans on hosting tailored lessons for unique, interesting, and vital parts of today's computer science atmosphere. You can't learn to code by relying on theory and tutorial videos -- which is why we focus on project-based learning on a plethora of CS fields.
